Before the Dawn by Cynthia Eden

About Before the Dawn

Print Length: 384 pages
Publisher: HQN Books (August 1, 2017)
The Killer Instinct series from New York Timesbestselling author Cynthia Eden continues as an FBI profiler tracks a case that resurrects ghosts from his past
Ex-SEAL Tucker Frost knows that the world is full of evil. He saw it in the face of his own brother, Jason Frost, a cold, methodical, sadistic killer. A killer Tucker put down with his own hands in order to save Jason’s final victim—Dawn Alexander, the only girl who got away from the infamous “Iceman.”
It’s Tucker’s up close and personal experience with evil that’s made him perfect for Samantha Dark’s experimental profiling division in the FBI. And when women start turning up murdered with the same MO used by the Iceman, Tucker is sent back to Louisiana to investigate.
Ten full years have passed since the night that Tucker faced down his brother…and since he last saw Dawn, his one-time lover. But as Tucker and Dawn grapple with a desire that never died, they must also face the shared shadow from their pasts. Both have the same question—has Jason Frost come back from the dead to hunt again? And this time, will he succeed in killing the victim who got away?
“Suspenseful, sexy fare that keeps you turning pages until you reach the story’s conclusion.” –RT Book Reviews: on AFTER THE DARK
“Eden expertly twines terror and true love in her second Killer Instinct contemporary romantic thriller…. Eden employs countless red herrings, making it impossible to tell who the real killer is until the book’s end. This winning tale is a tightly plotted, expertly characterized adrenaline rush from start to finish.” –Publishers Weekly STARRED review on Before the Dawn by Cynthia Eden

My Review:
Four Stars
I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher for review purposes.
Fun! Cynthia Eden has been on my to-read list for a long time and I have finally had a chance to read her. She did not disappoint! The story of Tucker and Dawn is fast-faced and exciting! I have been reading many "second-chance" stories lately and "Before the Dawn" was a perfect edition.  The story is set in New Orleans and the author was able to create the feel of what life in New Orleans would be like.  Tucker and Dawn were a great couple! In the mist of the romance is the search for a serial killer and a great cast of supporting characters.  Personally, for me, the gruesome parts were not my favorite but that is my own personal taste.  "Before the Dawn" was the second book in the series but I was able to easily follow along and still enjoy the story.  Overall, this was a fun and thrilling read couple with a chemistry filled couple.
Cynthia Eden is a New York Times, USA Today, Digital Book World, and IndieReader best-seller.
Cynthia writes dark tales of romantic suspense and sexy paranormal romance novels. She is a three-time finalist for the RITA® award (she was a finalist both in the romantic suspense category and in the paranormal romance category). Since she began writing full-time in 2005, Cynthia has written over seventy novels and novellas.
Cynthia lives along the Alabama Gulf Coast. She loves romance novels, horror movies, and chocolate. Her favorite hobbies including hiking in the mountains (searching for waterfalls) and spelunking.

My Dear Hamilton by Stephanie Dray & Laura Kamoie

From the New York Times bestselling authors of America’s First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton—a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. Haunting, moving, and beautifully written, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza’s story as it’s never been told before—not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal—but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

We’re celebrating Eliza Schuyler Hamilton’s Birthday today and you get the gift! Don’t miss the beautiful cover below and a special giveaway, and don’t forget to pre-order your copy today!

About My Dear Hamilton: A Novel of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton (Coming 4.3.2018):

Wife, Widow, and Warrior in Alexander Hamilton’s Quest to Form a More Perfect Union

A general’s daughter…

Coming of age on the perilous frontier of revolutionary New York, Elizabeth Schuyler champions the fight for independence. And when she meets Alexander Hamilton, Washington’s penniless but passionate aide-de-camp, she’s captivated by the young officer’s charisma and brilliance. They fall in love, despite Hamilton’s bastard birth and the uncertainties of war.

A founding father’s wife...

But the union they create—in their marriage and the new nation—is far from perfect. From glittering inaugural balls to bloody street riots, the Hamiltons are at the center of it all—including the political treachery of America’s first sex scandal, which forces Eliza to struggle through heartbreak and betrayal to find forgiveness.

The last surviving light of the Revolution…

When a duel destroys Eliza’s hard-won peace, the grieving widow fights her husband’s enemies to preserve Alexander’s legacy. But long-buried secrets threaten everything Eliza believes about her marriage and her own legacy. Questioning her tireless devotion to the man and country that have broken her heart, she’s left with one last battle—to understand the flawed man she married and imperfect union he could never have created without her…

I first read Cynthia Ripley Miller with ." I was completely engrossed in the story and I loved the concept of stealing the "Crown of Thorns." For Christians there is no greater religious relic. In the second book " The Quest for the Crown of Thorns" there is no room for happily ever after, not even for our hero and heroine -Arria Feliz and Garic the Frank. Although they are finally married and living happily they are quickly pulled back in to the deadly cut throat world of those who hunger not only for the Crown but for revenge.  When Arria's father, Senator Felix sends Arria a letter she and Garic have no choice but to return.  But they both have a price on their heads and it's not long before they are running for their lives in order to protect themselves against those who want to see them dead.  As Arria and Garic journey across the land of Constantinople there are very few that they can trust and many who want to do them harm.  What I enjoyed about Millers writing is the spell she weaves around readers.  When I started reading I had to come up for air only to realize I was half way through the story. The characters are not only interesting but the secondary and villainous characters are so well developed that they jump out and engulf you in the story. Just like the first story this was a fast-paced, interesting and captivating read!

Fun! Fun! and Fun! This was my first Tawny Weber book and my first Team Poseidon book.  What an energy filled story with angst, and passion!  First when the story begins, Lieutenant Elijah Prescott is in very bad shape.  It's obvious that although his body has healed, mentally he is not over the disaster that was his last assignment.  As part of one of the most elite teams in the Navy-Poseidon.  Elijah has a huge responsibility to his team and to himself.  When his team starts to question his capability the mental exhaustion really gets to him.

Ava Monroe is Elijah's ex.  After their failed marriage,  Ava has done everything possible to make sure that her life is tidy and kept.  She has everything in control and wants no unexpected surprises. When she is reunited with Elijah she is flooded with all her old feelings and she soon discovers that she has been protecting her heart from the only person she has loved. This was a great second chance romance.  There is definite romance and chemistry between Ava and Elijah it was satisfying to see them finally find each other.

Publisher: HQN Books (June 27, 2017)
Every town needs a bad boy, and Wrangler’s Creek’s has been gone far too long…
Getting his high school girlfriend pregnant was just one square in Roman Granger’s checkered past, but it changed him forever. When his son’s mother skipped town after the birth, Roman decided to do the same, baby Tate in tow, hoping for a fresh start.
Now Roman fears his teenage son is following in his wayward footsteps, so he returns home to Wrangler’s Creek, aiming to set him straight. It’s there he encounters Tate’s cousin Mila Banchini, the good-girl opposite of Roman who’s had a crush on him since childhood. The old spark between them undeniably never died, though Roman worries it’ll only lead to heartache. But if falling for Mila is such a bad idea, why does everything about holding her feel so right?

I've long been a fan of Harlequin Books since I could remember.  Their books are always filled with romance a treat to read.  Although I frequently read Harlequin, this is my first time reading Delores Fossen!  Luckily for me it was a great treat to experience her writing.  I loved the second-chance romance storyline.  I also loved to see how Roman grew and changed through the years and ultimately how he handled his sons decisions.  Another aspect, aside from the second chance romance, is the cowboy setting in Texas.  Although I never been to Texas, the images presented by Fossen make it very romantic and earthy.  I personally love the bad boy falls for the good girl scenario and Fossen definitely follows that example.  Although  Roman has very strict rules for how long he will stay with a woman he seems very conflicted when it come to dealing with Mila.  Mila is nothing like Roman and that is one of the reasons he is so drawn to her.  I loved the chemistry between both characters and I like the person that Roman ultimately became.  I really enjoyed and recommend this sweet and heartfelt story.  Fossen really pulled at my heart strings and many times I found myself sighing with the many tender moments that make up this sweet romance.
